Bin Asshole

Osama Bin Laden is dead and that is a good thing. He was a crazy monster who took his religion way too seriously and brought untold grief and pain to so many people that words cannot do his evil justice. In the end he got what he deserved. However, I am not going to be fist pumping chants of USA at his downfall.

Cheering his death will not bring back anyone who died on 9/11. His death was deserved but ten years too late. The damage this man has done is irreversible. It lead to two wars, and countless life’s lost. Without 9/11 I firmly believe we don’t re-elect Bush in 2004.

This man was the worst kind of crazy. He was bat shit and had money, and that is never a good combination. I don’t feel pride in our country today. Sure, kudos goes out to the intelligence that lead to his death and the brave soldiers that carried out their mission. But, his demise does not end the war on terror. If anything we may have made a martyr out of the loon.

There were many side effects to 9/11. The worst was giving those that were already bigoted against brown people ammunition in defending their hate. When Timothy McVeigh blew up the building in Oklahoma City, anyone with a brain knew that he was a nutjob who was working with a couple of other paranoid nutjobs in creating a catastrophe that is beyond explanation. But, that didn’t lead anyone to go blaming the thing on a whole sect of people.

A vast, vast majority of Muslims condemned the likes of Bin Laden. But, that didn’t stop the paranoid out there to start looking at every person of Middle Eastern descent with a raised eyebrow. 9/11 should have brought us together. But, it in many ways divided us even more, which just keeps adding to this tragedy. Bush had a chance to unite us. He had a chance to take all the petty bickering and push it aside and focus our attention to the real issues facing this country. Instead he gave us the Iraq War.

I know we have heard it all before and bashing Bush at this point is kind of like putting your car in reverse and re-running over the road kill in the middle of the street. But, the war in Iraq was either one of two things. One, it was the biggest lie in the history of America or it was the worst intelligence in the history of America. I want to believe Bush just got really bad information and choose to without definite proof, of WMD’s to believe that Sadam had them. The Bush White House kept trying to tie 9/11 with Iraq when really there was no connection. But, he had his heart set on invading Iraq and getting Sadam. So, he took the death of all those that tragically died on that day and perverted it into a war that we had no business fighting.

So, to me as sad and tragic as 9/11 was, it was made even worse by our reaction to it. We finally at long last got the bastard and again that is in a word, justice. But, in the end the damage is done. How many American soldiers had to die fighting that needless war? How many innocent Iraq civilians did we kill? How many more terrorists did we create by our actions? Today is not a day to celebrate or state that the victims of 9/11 have closure. How could anyone who lost someone that day ever have closure?

I agree 100%. Let's stop the ugliness and look toward the Arab Spring for hope of a new world.
